Between the incredible heat and having my almost 3 1/2 and almost 1 1/2 year old boys who sometimes nap and sometimes don't clamoring for my time and attention I've decided to settle my Rosh Hashana menu this week and then spend next week shopping, cooking and freezing as much as possible.

The only thing I would like to have to do just before the holiday is baking cakes and Challot and making salads. My plan is to go heavy on the salads.

I have no idea what I'm making for Wednesday or Friday nights. Shabbat lunch I intend to have leftovers.

Thursday lunch we'll be having J and her family, M and her family and a couple. So that's... 8 adults and 8 kids. Lunch will be deli roll, felafel chicken, carrot kugel, spinach noodle kugel, kasha varnishkes (yes, I know, 2 pasta sides!!!). Apple strudel muffins for dessert.

Thursday night we'll be having the L, 4 or so of their friends and C. I'll be making a turkey. AFAIK, Ls and Co. will bring everything else.

Friday lunch we'll be having the Ns, a new family from NJ. They have 3 girls. I plan on doing dairy for this meal. Apple-potato latkes, broccoli quiche, breaded cauliflower, monkey bread pizza. I think that's it. Dessert will be tie-dyed cheesecake.

The salads I'll be making will be potato salad, cole slaw, tomato salad and cucumber salad. Maybe also corn salad.

Hubby mentioned a beef dish so maybe for Wednesday night I'll make a beef with crisps dish I did last year. If I can find decent celery, I may also make the cooked lettuce and celery dish....

So... what are you all making? What do you think of my menu?
