"Matisyahu didn't say he's "post-Orthodox," the Jewish Journal article did. He says he's still going to shul and mikveh daily, he's got sideburns, wear a kippah and tzitzis. I think that for any person who becomes…"

rebecca klempner replied to MI Post's discussion 'Monster Mohel & The San Fransisco Circumcision Ban'
"I think that all the Jews and Muslims who support circumcision in the SF area should stage a one day boycott of all businesses in the city, then threaten to continue if the ban passes. The real monsters are the ones who want to keep boys from…"

rebecca klempner replied to MI Post's discussion 'Does Gender Matter?'
"I was raised in the '70s and early '80s--the "Free to Be You and Me" generation, if you will. My mom offered my sister and me as many boy toys as girl toys. My sister and I made tea parties where the guests were our action…"

rebecca klempner commented on Jodi's blog post 'I hate chesed (kindness) projects'

rebecca klempner replied to MI Post's discussion 'Barbie vs. Babushka'
"Barbie is SO, SO bad for children! When I was a teenager, I babysat for my then 5-ish cousin. This child was so beautiful that after she'd visit me at college with her family, the kids in the caferteria the next morning would ask, "Who was…"

sci fi and fantasy for the Jewish audience

I just wrote a blog about the dearth of sci fi and fantasy books for Jewish kids and the new book Hereville. I'd like to know if anyone else has ideas on this topic. I'm posting the blog in its entirety here. Thanks to my brother-in-law Joshua, I just heard about a wonderful new graphic novel called Hereville. The subject: an 11 y o Orthodox girl fights trolls. With a little research, I discovered that this is currently the #1 Jewish book for kids being sold on Amazon. This doesn't surprise me…See More

mazel tov on your cousin and the Case Western placement! He should give us a call--- 216-870-3142.... does he need advice on where to live or shuls or anything? There are essentially 3 communities here.... Wickliffe (yeshiva--- mostly learners and young families), Cleveland Heights (where we live-- a mix of modern and yeshivish) and University Heights/Beachwood (more modern, like Pico Robertson).

Hope Pesach prep is going well for you! I just started TODAY and have tasks on my to do list for tomorrow night, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday..... oy. :)

Good Shabbos!

I REMEMBER YOU! I was just browsing through the member list here-- just joined and it's nice to see a familiar face from the LA days! Let's see you have 4 kids now--- I THINK when we left LA you had either just had your second or were just about to maybe. Are you still in the Pico Robertson neighborhood? We moved to Cleveland in the summer of 2005 and LOVE it here--- great to bump into you online!
