About me....
I am the Educational Director and Founder of Private Prep, a boutique tutoring service in the New York metro area. Our tutors are experienced, passionate, and highly qualified educators. In addition to a track record of improving grades and increasing test scores, our tutors have a knack for connecting with students on a personal level and recognize their role in our student's lives often transcends academics.
My experience as a Math tutor began during high school in Bethesda, Maryland. My mom was a well known math tutor in the area and I would help with her middle school students. I continued to work with some of my mom's Math SAT students during college when I would come home from Emory University each summer.
After graduating from Emory in 2003 with a degree in Economics, I moved to New York for a job in private wealth management. While I enjoyed working in finance, I missed teaching math. So I began to look for opportunities moonlighting as a private tutor. It took some time to find the first students, but once I did, the power of word of mouth took hold. Before long I was working with multiple students every evening and helping them find tutors in other subjects besides math. Recognizing I was at a crossroad in my career, I left finance and founded Private Prep in the summer of 2006.
Today Private Prep has over 20 energetic tutors with expertise in standardized test prep, a full range of academic subjects, learning differences and college essay assistance. We have expanded our service to Westchester County and offer summer enrichment in the Hamptons. Since founding Private Prep, we have worked with over 150 students and developed relationships with most of New York's elite private and public schools.
