Writer, Editor, and Unrepentent Chocoholic

I'm the author of three award-winning humor books, including The Women's Daily Irony Supplement. I also write regularly for Aish.com, MommaSaid.net, AmericanThinker.com, and whereever else I can weasel my way in.

I'm also a speaker, most recently at the National Mothers of Twins Clubs annual convention in 2009. My humor, essays and features have appeared in media outlets worldwide, including Ladies’ Home Journal, Woman’s Day, Family Circle, the Christian Science Monitor, the Chicago Tribune, the Boston Globe, ReadTheSpirit.com, the Jewish Journal of Los Angeles, as well as 6 anthologies. I'm also a senior editor for Accepted.com, a graduate school admissions consulting and editing business.
I'm the proud mom of 4 great kids, and my husband and I are active members at Aish HaTorah Los Angeles.

I invite you to visit my web site, judygruen.com, and enjoy some of my work there.

Flying the Crowded Skies

I do not envy frequent flyers one whit, unless they are among the rarefied few who get to cruise at 35,000 feet in business class or better. I’m just another plebeian, traveling the skies much in the same manner as my immigrant grandparents traveled the seas before me: in steerage class. Airlines have many ways to rub salt in the wound to the hoi polloi. Upper crust fliers not only board first as the rest of us watch enviously, but they are already settled serenely in their ample…

Can I Say That?

“Did you hear that Tony's getting a divorce?” my coworker Stacie said in a hushed tone by the coffeemaker, interrupting an important deliberation between the chocolate hazelnut and the French roast. I had not heard this news about our boss, but having the intelligence foisted on me put me in a kosher pickle. On the one hand, I didn't want to be an accomplice to dishing about Tony’s troubles. But on the other hand (since when you are Jewish there is always another hand), if I appeared…

Mother's Day Gifts? Bring 'Em On!

Mother’s Day is now enjoying its annual splash of media attention – attention that is surely coveted by creators of many lesser-known holidays in May, such as International Tuba Day (May 1), International Migratory Bird Day (the second Saturday in May), and No Dirty Dishes Day (May 18), a commemoration, which, if taken seriously, could pose a formidable threat to future observances of Mother’s Day.

As a mother of four, I welcome the implied…

What’s Next in Neurotic Parenting? My Predictions for 2010

Soon we will herald in a new year. What will it bring for those of us concerned about the house-arrest trend of parenting? Here are my predictions:

1. No parents will be allowed to take their newborns home from a hospital without first implanting a GPS device in them. Federal workers will make random home visits to ensure that the GPS is fully charged until the child goes off to college and attends his first frat party on open keg night.

2. Tag will be officially outlawed,… Continue

Interestingly enough, from reading your articles and one of your books I totally did not picture kids with black hats LOL. I guess your readership expected the "normal", modern American family.

Why are people so scared off by Yeshivish looking people? They're probably thinking "Eeeew. They look so Jewish!".

Their loss.

Judy,
I'm assuming that that's the sheitel you wrote about whenever on Aish.com. I just want to tell you that YOU LOOK ABSOLUTELY SMASHING!!!!!
Totally more gorgeous than that pic of you on Aish.com with the big hat.

You're gorgeous! (and I love your humor)
