Special
needs scholarship for Play together on Upper West Side - no one taken
A partial scholarship of 1,800 has been
offered to PlayTogether NYC for a special needs child for the school year of
2011/2012. The goal of the scholarship is to encourage and promote
the inclusion mission of PlayTogether NYC and other preschools. This
scholarship has not yet been claimed. Please contact Nyla Kamlet (Nylakamlet@yahoo.com) to
apply.
PlayTogether NYC is a diverse, secular and
inclusive play-based preschool located on West 84Th street. In PlayTogether's
open, nurturing environment, children participate in a large variety of fun
projects that simultaneously develop important skills: ART projects for sensory
integration and fine motor coordination; DRAMA for building creativity and
confidence; SUPERVISED PLAY for social awareness and emotional processing;
MUSIC for rhythmical movement, patterning and counting.
Child therapist Nyla Kamlet
L.C.S.W., who directs the school, has developed this uniquely rich play-based
curriculum incorporating language, visual, sensory, musical and mathematical
activities to enhance the development of social skills, self-esteem and confidence-
all critical for success in school and in life.

Hi,
My son is PDD NOS and will probably get diagnosed as having Asperger's when he turns eight. At this time he is in a CTT program through a public school. I really feel that he is slipping through the cracks and is failing academically. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard of Gesher Yehuda in Brooklyn and Sinai in NJ and dont know too much about these schools. I do know that they are beyond our means and the BOE is trying to cut services here and it is very difficult to get them to cover the cost, especially out of state schools e.g., NY to NJ. Does any have any thoughts or experience in this area?
