Suggestions for managing the first three months at home with a new baby

Toto... I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!  Life is different, fuller, more fatigued and just overwhelming.

What tips can we share to help overcome the overwhelm?

Most important- set up a support system before birth.  You do need help, tlc, food, clean laundry... and if someone around you knows about breastfeeding (if your inclined to do so) that would be VERY good.

I would add that first-time mothers should learn about breastfeeding before the birth. Too often, pregnant women focus on the birth itself, which lasts about a day. And no one expects them to give birth on their own. A new mother should know what signs to look for to be sure that nursing is going well, and how to get help.
Agreed. 100%
