While we’re the ones fasting it’s still important to teach our children about the Destruction of the Beis Hamikdash. Here are two books which aim to give the day meaning for young children.

Yibaneh Hamikdash
By: Rabbi Fishel Schachter, Aryeh Mahr

Beautiful illustrations provide the setting for stories about the mitzvah of ahavas chinam. Featuring the Sanzer Rav, the Vilna Gaon, and Rav Shalom Schwadron, along with an angry shammos, a very curious sultan
and, of course, Kamtza and Bar Kamtza.

Available at Feldheim.

When We Left Yerushalayim
Stories of the Churban Beis Hamikdash
By: Genendel Krohn

With this wonderful, sensitive book, children are treated to dozens of stories about the Temple, giving them a taste of what life was like before it was destroyed. With captivating pictures and age-appropriate
text, this book is both sobering and important. It imparts to children
the wonderful treasure we were entrusted with and gives them inspiration
to pray for the coming of Moshiach.

Available at Feldheim.
