Couting the Omer, 7 weeks parallel to the 7 days counted before resuming intimate relations

Counting

By Bracha Goetz

  We are counting the days.
It's the way we prepare.
Longings from within,
Said aloud, to the air.

  We are counting the days.
Expectations grow.
But we don't feel deserving.
And we hope it won't show.

  We are counting the days.
Re-directing the mind,
To face what we're lacking,
And what we've got to find.

  We are counting the days.
Moving toward the same goal.
Each one with different needs.
Each seeking to be whole.

  We are counting the days.
Changing, as we wait.
We're struggling to get closer,
To appreciate.

  We are counting the days.
What's missing is in sight.
But our hearts must be opened,
Before we can unite.

  We are counting the days.
It's the way we prepare.
We get ready to love,
Day by day, through Omer.
